Skin Microneedling

Skin Microneedling is the ultimate facial!

Turn back time for your skin… permanently!  Skin microneedling is the last kind of facial you will ever need.  If it’s the right treatment for you, it will work with your body’s natural healing mechanisms to heal, tighten and brighten.

What does Microneedling treat?

Microneedling is a safe and highly effective way of treating:

  • fine lines and wrinkles,
  • skin tightening,
  • acne scars,
  • body scars (including burn scars),
  • reducing pore size,
  • improving texture and softness,
  • bringing a natural glow and radiance to the skin in general,
  • tattoo removal.

Almost any area of the body can be treated, most commonly face, neck, chest and back of hands.

How does Microneedling work?

Skin microneedling, popularized by the DermaPen, involves the use of a machine with an automated needle tip, to create repeated punctures into the superficial layers of the skin.  Each tip has on average 10-16 tiny needles.  As each needle enters and exits the skin at a very fast rate, it creates a tiny pore in the skin, and stimulates collagen regrowth in the area.   After the treatment is finished, the skin will continue to remodel over the next 4 weeks, at which time the final effects will be noticed.  Treatments are done 3-4 weeks apart, and usually between 5 and 10 treatment are needed for full effect.  However, you will still notice effects after only one treatment!

Does Microneedling hurt?

Depending on the depth of treatment as well as the area being treated, the treatment can be from painless to mildly painful.  At Empower Health, we often apply a pre-numbing treatment so that you can be as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

Less damage than a derma-rollers, dermabrasion and chemical peels:

When used correctly by an experienced practitioner, skin micro-needling machines, such as the DermaPen, do not damage the skin permanently.  Derma-rollers and microdermabrasion, on the other hand, can cause scratches, nicks, or “trenches” in the epidermis which can lead to permanent scarring.

Also, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and exfoliation remove the surface layer of the skin, which is where our protective layer of bacteria sit.  This compromises that “baby-soft” look to the skin, leaving things looking shiny and leathery, and ends up encouraging more oil production.
Get tightening and lifting without surgery, fillers or botox!

Skin microneedling can create lift and tightening that is permanent and long-lasting. When you combine it with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, the results are even more dramatic. While it’s not as quick to produce results like botox and fillers, you avoid introducing artificial substances to your body, as well as all of the serious risks that come with these therapies, such as:

  • partial facial paralysis with botox,
  • permanent damage the subcutaneous connective tissue layers with fillers,
  • blindness when fillers when used around the eye,
  • botched surgeries,
  • over-treatment in general (flat emotions, inability to smile properly, puffed up “fake” looking lips),
  • and many others.
