Tricia Lovegrove, RMT Registered Massage Therapist

Tricia Lovegrove, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), known as the “therapist with Seeing Hands,” is a graduate of West Coast College of Massage Therapy. She has been in practice since 1998, and has special certification in Prenatal Massage.

A former Paralympian, Tricia Lovegrove has a deep understanding of the annoyance that arises from persistent aches and pains, even in the non-athletic world. She has treated over 5000 patients through the years, with results ranging from significant improvement to complete recovery.

Tricia has a unique ability called Sensitive Informed Touch (SIT). Totally blind since early childhood, she has highly sensitive hands, a major asset to a Massage Therapist as it enables her to locate problem areas quickly and treat them effectively. She can find trouble spots you didn’t even know you had. Come experience the difference!

When it comes to treatment methods, Lovegrove uses a holistic approach even when treating specific conditions or complaints. For example: if you were to come in with pains in the lower back, she would begin with a general treatment of the neck, shoulders, back and hips, for example, the full upper body. After two or three treatments, she would begin to focus on the lower back while still including the other areas, on the alert for secondary problem areas you might not be aware of but which might be contributing to the main problem.

Prenatal massage therapy
The treatment during pregnancy can be highly beneficial to both the mother and the unborn child. For Mum, the benefits include:
  • reducing general tension,
  • easing pain and discomfort,
  • maintaining circulation and more.

For the foetus, it provides gentle stimulation. Yes, babies often respond to Massage Therapy even inutero. The pregnancy plan can begin at any point during a pregnancy, but the earlier the better. Though, we don’t suggest beginning Abdominal massage until after the end of the third month (the first trimester), due to the higher risk of miscarriage.

Deep Tissue Massage
One of Tricia Lovegrove’s strengths is Deep Tissue Massage, a series of techniques that address the deeper layers of tissue and the major muscles. Some of these techniques can be uncomfortable and even painful at the time of treatment, and there may be some post-treatment cramping for a few hours. Once this wears off, however, you begin to notice the difference in the form of less tension, freedom from that stubborn cramp that won’t go away, and even relief from persistent headaches.

Happy Clients!

“I had excellent prenatal massages with Tricia Lovegrove. She was very knowledgeable about prenatal massages. She ensured that she addressed my specific concerns as well as common ailments during pregnancy. She was also very careful of avoiding certain pressure points that could trigger contractions. Tricia mostly used lighter pressure for me which was appropriate given the late stage of my pregnancy (38 & 39 weeks when I saw her), but I could sense that she would be great with deep pressure massages if that's what you're looking for. Overall, Tricia is a very skilled massage therapist with great bedside manners. I only wish I had started seeing her earlier in my pregnancy. It was also an added bonus that my midwife shares the office with Empower Health so it was very convenient to have both appointments taken care of in one trip.”
