Come join us for this introduction to The Wheel of Consent: a foundational tool for all human relating – between friends, family, colleagues, and intimate partners.
This introduction will give you an opportunity to practice connecting with, valuing, and trusting yourself and your desire. This practice, combined with gaining clarity around your own and others’ boundaries for consensual interactions provide a foundation for ease, sensuality, confidence, self-responsibility, and freedom.
Tickets are $40. Limited spots (max 10)
What is the Wheel?
The Wheel is a model of consent developed by Dr. Betty Martin. It is based on, but not requiring, exchanges of touch. The Wheel distinguishes between the ‘doing’ aspect of the touch dynamic — who is doing — and the ‘gift’ aspect — who it is for. Once the distinction between those two aspects is clear, the entire dynamic of consent becomes clear.
Who is this for?
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in learning more about themselves and improving the quality of their relationships – personal or professional, with lovers, friends, parents, children, or colleagues.
No prior is experience necessary. For those who have been exposed to the Wheel, and those who have not, there are always new levels of awareness to be found. All genders and sexual orientations are welcome.
What happens at the workshop?
The workshop includes opportunities to practice noticing what you want, trusting and choosing that, and noticing what that is like for you. The context is educational. While the workshop includes opportunities for non-sexual touch exchanges with another person’s hand, you may choose to not take on, or sit out, of any exercise at any moment. Participation in the exercises is not required for you to get the full value of the workshop. If you know you would like to participate in the paired exercises and are concerned about working with someone you do not know well, bring a friend. If you would like more information before choosing to attend, you are welcome to reach out to the organizer with any questions or concerns (Facebook DM or 604 349 5474).
What have people said about this workshop?
“I learnt so much, more than I knew was available to discover. It was so incredibly valuable and the way I connect with people physically, emotionally and through communication is transformed.”
This training takes place on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-waututh) Nations.
